Over the past two years I spent a lot of time cleaning my backyard chicken eggs, which has been extremely frustrating and time consuming. Recently in talking with my neighbor, who has his own wood working business, he mentioned that he had a lot of left over wood chips and scraps. I offered to take as much and many of them off his hands in order to provide a better nesting area for my chickens.
Since I’ve started using the wood chips my eggs have consistently been cleaner and a whole lot easier to clean. This small supplement has gone a long way to reduce the amount of work our family has to do.
In addition, we were having a lot of problems with the walls on our coop having cracks on them, so we started sealing them in with Dow Chemical’s Cracks and Gaps. This foam has worked out great to seal off any water entering our pens as well. The foam sealant and wood chips have gone a long way in reducing our workload.
Here is a short video I made showing you more of the details.
